Changing Windows 3.1 Trumpet Winsock  to Connect with LWEB
 
1. If you can, access 
http://software.lweb.net 

eudor152.exe is a very usable version of 
Eudora Lite. Configuration Instructions. 

g16e301.exe is Netscape Gold V3.01 

msiew31.exe is Microsoft Internet Explorer 
for Windows 3.1 Version 3.01 

trump.exe is Trumpet Winsock Version 2.01 
Preconfigured for US.  We recommend that you 
download this file and install it in a directory 
c:\lweb 
 

2. At this point you need to know what directory your Trumpet Dialer is in.  For WWDC clients it is normally in C:\NETSCAPE  Other providers put it in other directories.  If you have a trumpet 
ICON in program manager Double Click it. 
If the DIALER starts DIALING press ESC on your keyboard. The trumpet screen should appear. 

If you have no trumpet ICON, create one. 
In Program Manager Click File/New 
Program Item should be selected.  Click OK. 
In Command Line Enter 
C:\NETSCAPE\TCPMAN.EXE 
(assuming your trumpet program is in that directory)  Click OK

3. Click File/Setup 
Enter Values to Match the Graphic. 

Name Server = 209.205.45.34  142.77.1.1 
Domain Suffix = lweb.net 
MTU = 572 
TCP RWIN = 2048 
TCP MSS = 532 
Internal PPP Checked 
Slip Port to Match your Com Port (Normally 2) 
Baud 19200 for 14.4 Modems 38400 for Others 
Harware Handshake On 
Online Status Detection None 

Click OK

4. Click File/PPP Options 

Click Use Password Authentication Protocol 
Fill In Your Username and Password 
Click OK

5. Click Dialer/Options. 
Select Automatic login and logout on demand 
and 
Use standard SLIP settings 

Click OK

 
 
You may have to modify your login.cmd to match ours.
